Iwan Roberts has revealed he was close to signing for Cardiff last summer, saying the Bluebirds are the only club he would leave Norwich for.

The towering Wales international striker insists he is dedicated to the Canaries' cause, but admits a switch to Ninian Park would have appealed.

However, the transfer never materialised and Roberts went on to play a pivotal role as the Canaries came within a whisker of reaching the play-offs before Birmingham ended their dream in the play-off final on penalties.

But Roberts told TEAMtalk: "Cardiff is the only place I'd leave Norwich for, I have family there, my wife has family there and I am a Welsh boy at heart. They tried to sign me last season, but the move never happened, though I would still like to go back there.
